A major bank had established a greenfield company to design, develop and launch a new internet-based bank, offering a novel  financial service to customers across a range of banking products.

The programme organisation covered three functional areas: a) front-end, web-based customer experience, b) mid-tier financial management and intelligence, c) main banking engine systems from diverse major suppliers providing standard banking products (current account, savings, credit card etc.), multiple project streams running within each.

This was a major challenge, new practices designed, leading edge technology developed, new partners contracted. The customer recognised that this was at least two-year project; the bank was successfully opened in 9 months.

At its peak, the development team comprised about 350 on-site staff, with several suppliers developing components remotely.
